I wanted this for my mother who loves fresh pepper but was recently diagnosed with Fibro this year and using a manual grinder has been hard on her here lately. When I saw that this was electric & all she needed to do was push a button to get the fresh pepper she loves, I knew it was perfect for her. I had to take off a star tho because this thing was a NIGHTMARE to actually open! She could not get this opened and I've got arthritis in my wrist & took me about 30 minutes just to get it opened. Once I finally got it opened & got the 6 AAA batteries put into it to see if it worked, I was REALLY glad to see that it worked without needing to be locked into place. She'll have to be careful when she's using it though but she's thankful to have it because she's really missed having her fresh pepper. I've also tested this out with other spices to use for a rub on some chicken and it worked on them to get them fine enough.
